Education and Training For Nutritionists

To become a licensed or registered nutritionist, you need to obtain specific levels of education and training to meet state requirements. Licensing, certification, or registrations are required in forty-eight of the fifty states. To become a nutritionist, you will need to obtain a Bachelor's degree in dietetics, food services, nutrition or a related area at a minimum. Required college courses may include nutrition, the study of food, biology, chemistry, institution management, mathematics, and physiology. Learning a foreign language such as Spanish or Chinese may also be useful.
Beyond the educational components, nutritionists need good oral and written communication skills. They need to be able to work with a variety of different types of people from healthy to sick to the young, and the old. Nutritionists also have to be able to effectively communicate with wide range of people from very young children to cardiovascular surgeons.
Once the aspiring nutritionist completes a Bachelor's degree and the required coursework, they are able to take an exam for the Registered Dietitian credential, which is award by the American Diabetic Association. The credential is awarded after receiving a passing score on the exam and completing an internship in the field. Be sure to research the credentials and internships needed to practice in your state and for your area of specialization.
There are excellent schools that offer nutrition related programs in many parts of the U.S. In determining which school to attend, be sure to evaluate the reputation of the school, the quality of instruction, and talk to current or former students to get their feedback. Aspiring nutritionists should also consider which specialization best fits their strengths and interest. Whether it is in public health, schools, hospitals, or working for a professional sports team, a career as a nutritionist can present a variety of options.
By obtaining a Masters degree, nutritionists have better career opportunities when entering the field, particularly with positions in research, public health, or advanced clinical nutrition. Obtaining a masters degree can also help for career advancement.

Begin an Exciting Hands-On Career With Training From Vocational Tech Schools

This article answers some common questions about vocational tech schools. It discusses how to choose the best program to meet your needs and the possible career benefits this type of training can offer.
If you're someone who enjoys working with your hands and who is currently searching for a new, exciting career, read this article to learn how job training at a vocational tech school could benefit you.
What is a Vocational Tech School?
Vocational tech schools offer hands-on education and training for jobs in a number of different industries. Students often enroll in these training programs after graduating from high school or obtaining their GEDs.
Some industries that employ graduates of trade schools include:
• Automotive Technology
• Commercial Truck Driving
• Electrical Technology
• Machinist Technology
• Refrigeration/AC Technology

How Do Tech Schools Differ from Other Colleges?
The biggest difference between trade schools and other colleges is the amount of time students must spend completing their education.
Most vocational tech schools offer programs that students can complete in about one year, while students who attend other colleges often take a minimum of four years to complete their education.
Most colleges also require students to complete a liberal arts education. Students need to enroll in a broad range of courses that are not directly related to their particular area of study. However, vocational tech schools only require students to take classes in their particular trade.
How Can I Apply?
The admissions process for vocational tech schools will vary depending upon the school.
Some schools may require more information from you as a student to complete the application process, including requests that you submit additional paperwork with your application.
It is important to note that the majority of vocational tech schools will require you to provide proof that you have received your high school diploma or GED before applying.
There are very few programs that accept individuals not meeting this qualification.
For your peace of mind, contact each school's admissions office for specific information about its application process.
How Do I Know If I have Chosen the Right Trade School to Attend?
To determine if you have chosen the best vocational trade school for you, there are four things you need to consider:
• Job Placement: A good school will have a high job placement rate, indicating that students are heading straight into the workforce as soon as they complete their training.
• Facilities: A school with up-to-date facilities ensures you are learning the latest technologies that apply to your field.
• Student Services: Schools that provide a variety of services to students (job placement, financial aid, etc.) show they are willing to do whatever it takes to help them succeed.
• Tuition: A good school will not try to incorporate hidden fees into students' tuition expenses.

How Long Does Training Last?
Depending upon which vocational tech school you choose to attend, the length of your job training program will vary.
However, most trade schools offer programs that are relatively short, usually running about six months to two years.
Contact your local vocational tech school before you enroll to determine how long the program you are interested in will take to complete.
How Much Does It Cost to Attend Trade School?
Job training cost will vary according to the vocational tech school you choose to attend and the program you decide to enroll in.
It is a good idea to verify all costs with your school before classes begin.
Most schools have some form of financial aid available for students who are unable to pay for their education out-of-pocket.
This financial aid usually consists of grants, which students do not have to pay back, and loans, which do need to be paid back.
When possible, it is always good idea to save your money to pay for classes each semester. This practice will allow you to graduate debt-free with no loans to worry about paying back.
What are the Benefits of Attending Vocational Tech School?
Students who enroll in trade schools will receive numerous career and education benefits, including:
• Hands-on Experience:Classes teach theory behind the industry, but also include lab time to show students how the theory they learned applies to the workplace.
• Practical Courses: Students are not forced to enroll in classes that do not directly relate to their job training.
• Real World Knowledge: Students are taught skills that can be immediately applied to the workplace upon graduation.
• Job placement: Most career training schools will help graduates find entry level positions in their industry.
• Job Security: Advanced career training will help you separate yourself from other job seekers who do not share your level of expertise.
It is a known fact that employers prefer to hire individuals who have received job training before entering the industry. Vocational tech schools will provide you with the training necessary to help you become more appealing to future employers.
Attending a trade or technical school can be a great way to start a rewarding career in the field of your choice.
If you're looking to attend one of the best trade schools in Pennsylvania (located specifically in the Youngstown-Warren-Boardman Pennsylvania, Ohio area) I suggest you do your research to find the technical or vocational program and school that's right for you!

The Importance of Education in Personal Training

Personal training is a competitive industry. People from all walks of life are deciding to switch careers and become a fitness professional. To stay competitive it is important to have a diverse portfolio, or "toolbox". An example would be acquiring a certification from a well known organization, such as the American College of Sports Medicine. This can show potential clients that you have taken the extra step to gain experience, which can make them feel more confident in trusting you as their trainer. Another such tool to add into your toolbox would be education.
Education is just as important as being certified. One reason is training someone is more than just showing them how to lift a weight. To successfully help a client reach their goals, one must have sufficient knowledge in anatomy and kinesiology, exercise physiology, health risk stratification, biomechanics, nutrition, biology, and designing exercise programs. These topics are usually minimally covered in certification exam study materials, which is not enough. To have a full understanding of these topics can take months of studying and research.
Another reason for obtaining education is for the safety of your client. It is important to understand how the body functions and how exercise can affect it. Without a solid understanding of the above topics, one could teach a client an exercise that might actually hinder reaching their goals instead of helping them. An example could be if someone has recently had knee surgery, and a trainer recommends as part of their routine they run to lose weight (an extreme example). If the trainer had sufficient education, they probably would not have recommended running as they would know it can take weeks if not months for recovery. They instead would have recommended light exercises that would strengthen the surrounding joint muscles first, before getting into any type of cardio regimen.
Continuing your education is always important whether you are a seasoned trainer or just starting. New research and exercise methods are always coming to light, and obtaining education is a great way to stay on top of it all. Don't feel like you have the time to go to a local college or university for a class? Try typing into Google "Online Certificates in Fitness and Health". The next several pages will provide you with a wide variety of health and wellness courses to choose from, all of which are online.

The Future of Educational Technology and Education 3.0

Thinking of what education might look like in the next decade, one quickly realizes that the trends in technology are leaving a large number of our students behind. We no longer live in an age of visible movement when it comes to progress and innovation. Today is an age of exponential change. New and ever-improving technologies are popping up every day and in every corner of society.
Educating the best and the brightest in this brave new world will take a new and improved educational paradigm. Allowing our educational tools to age in the corner of the classroom will be the mistake that may cost us our future. Throwing away masses of children to inequitable access will ensure that we languish at the bottom of the global pool of employable workers for decades to come.
The New Toolbox
I was at an auction a few years ago and noticed a few old woodworking tools that I thought I could use. For a few bucks, I was able to snag an assortment of hand tools that may have been in someone's toolbox for a generation or more. As the next decade passed, I used these tools in my shop for a wide variety of projects until my projects outgrew these old, dull tools. My woodworking creations continued to improve as did my skills and artistry. I quickly discovered that using improved tools would translate into improved craftsmanship. As any woodworker will tell you, new tools require new skills.
Woodworking is a great metaphor for shaping and molding students. There is simply no good substitute for a sharp tool. If you want to build the best projects possible, you need to use the best tools possible. Thinking in terms of the next decade for our country, we will be sorely disappointed in our projects if we fail to improve our tools.
Over the course of the next few days, I will attempt to paint a picture of how technology will shape the way we educate students in the next decade. I will attempt to show the amazing possibilities that lay before us if we will simply walk through the doorway of opportunity that is open to us.
My main focus in this series of articles will be this idea: Transforming the student from being a passenger to becoming a "user." You may be wondering what I mean by this. Let me explain.
Ask yourself what it means to be a "user." A user is not simply a person who uses. For the student, being a user should involve using the latest technology in a free and autonomous manner. This new-found freedom will allow the student to become an active participant in his/her education instead of a passive passenger. No other time in history have we been so able to make this a reality.
In our current technological society, being a user also means being tracked. Tracking has become a major part of our daily lives and is precisely the engine that should drive our educational process for the foreseeable future. Tracking a student means having the ability to target education toward weaknesses and strengths. The ability to accurately customize curriculum to the individual has been the holy grail of educational philosophy for many years. This golden age of technological development may soon enable this dream to become a reality.
Current educational curriculum and individual assessment is arbitrary at best. Being able to accurately asses a student can only be achieved by using modern tracking and database technologies. The means by which we can make this a reality is readily available and only needs to be taken off the shelf to be used. If Congress is looking for a shovel-ready project, this may be the one.
Imagine a world where every child has a tablet computer with ready access to the App of virtual photographic memory (internet). Further, imagine that every student can access all the knowledge of humankind freely at any moment in time. Continue to imagine a world where a misspelled word brings up a spelling challenge application instead of an auto correction. Try to contemplate what it would mean for a teacher to have a database of every misspelled word, every misunderstood concept or every missed equation for each of their students. Try to envision a teacher with the ability to customize the experience of the individual "user" with minimal effort. Imagine the curriculum being automatically targeted to the user through an intuitive educational platform that knows every strength and each unique weakness. I could go on, but I think you get the point.
The company that makes this standard available to the educational community will be the company that shapes the future of humankind. Will it be Google, Apple, Microsoft, or some other yet unknown pioneer?
Continuing from the thoughts in my last post, I would like to elaborate on the idea of the student as a user of a new standardized educational platform. It is obvious to me that the future of education will always mirror our everyday lives in one way or another. If you examine how technology has influenced your daily life already, you begin to put together a snapshot of what it will mean to be educated in the next decade.
In the last few hundred years, most individuals would consider an education as something you receive. You often hear the question asked, "Where did you receive your education?" As we proceed through the next decade, education will slowly move away from reception and toward being custom designed for the individual user. New technology will not only allow us to receive an education, but also develop an education. The question we might ask in 10 years is, "How did you develop your education?" The question of where will still be important, but the how of the matter will be the focus that defines the individual.
To make this a reality we will need a standardized platform from which to develop a student's unique education. This standardized platform will allow us to tailor a custom curriculum that will be matched to talents, interests and life goals. For the educator, a standardized platform will create a way to assist the student in discovering a true purpose in life through a unique educational experience. The basics of reading, writing and arithmetic will not be taught as much as they will be discovered and used. Learning will become a reciprocal experience between the teacher, the student and the machine.
Under a standardized platform, each of these three participants will have a role to play. The teacher will be the facilitator, assisting the development of the curriculum and inspiring the direction the student takes. The student will be the user, gathering resources, skills and knowledge in an efficient and measured sequence. The machine will do the work of data gathering and analysis, which will assist the teacher and student in refining the curriculum. This data gathering work of the machine will also free the teacher from the burden of record-keeping and tedious tasks that currently distract from the real job of teaching and learning.
Under a standardized system, grade level will be far less important. Achievement and progression will be measured by accomplishment and intelligence as a benchmark for success. The question of failure or success will be irrelevant and replaced with a standard and consistent measurement of potential and overall intelligence. Information will no longer be missed but continually rehearsed and monitored for retention by the machine.

In our current educational paradigm, the teacher is in charge of arbitrarily constructing curriculum. This approach to curriculum development is based on inexperience in some cases, outdated materials, inadequate funding and a shortage of time. Measuring the success of a specific curriculum is currently impossible. With a standardized system, comparisons of curricular success can be made across the entire spectrum of education and then continually reformulated and enhanced by the machine.
Sadly, teachers today are bogged down with an assortment of mind-numbing tasks that would be better suited to an off-the-shelf automated system. Tasks such as data tracking, reporting and record keeping are currently accomplished manually. These tasks could easily be delegated to an intuitive database. Developing a standard to follow would eliminate these tasks and free the teacher to do their main job of teaching students.
Education 3.0
Throughout history, man has sought to pass on knowledge to the next generation. This process started with oral tradition, storytelling and writing. With the advent of the printing press, knowledge and information slowly became available to the masses. The amount of information that could be gained by one human in a lifetime was severely limited by his access to printed materials and wealth. The majority of learning was gained through observation and imitation. We can call this Education 1.0.
Education 2.0 starts around the late eighteen hundreds with universal literacy movements throughout newly industrialized regions of the world. Improvements in education slowly transitioned from apprenticeship to formal education and training. Despite our movements toward universal education, access to knowledge and opportunity continues to be inequitable throughout the world. Even with the arrival of the computer revolution, access to the tools of learning continues to define the learner.
The next decade may mark the moment in history when all men are granted equal access to the greatest treasure a soul can possess. I use the word may in the last sentence because there is the chance that we will miss this golden opportunity. Access to Education 3.0 will only be gained through investment and universal standardization. If we continue to divert wealth toward fruitless goals and corporate greed, this opportunity will be lost or hopelessly delayed.
Education 3.0, when it arrives, will be the age of universal enlightenment. Platforms for education and learning will slowly standardize and become globally accessible and affordable. The poorest to the wealthiest will have access to the machine that runs the platform.
The thought on your mind at this point is most likely wondering what machine I keep referring to. The machine in question is the one we have been so busy teaching and training since roughly 1969. You've probably guessed it by now that I am referring to the internet. The great cloud of knowledge that we call the internet is precisely the mechanism that we will use to build the platform of Education 3.0. When the platform is finally in place, the decade to follow will see the greatest amount of wealth, discoveries and use of human potential that we have witnessed during our time on this earth. The only question that remains to be answered is the point at which I will leave this series of articles.
When will we allow the user to use the machine to its potential?

Educational Toys - Providing Avenues of Growth

Toys are the tools of play for young children. The types of toys and how they are used play an important role in your child's development. Toys can actually provide avenues for parents, caregivers and children to interact. This of course is the best way for parents and caregivers to help their children learn and grow. When parents and caregivers participate in their child's play, learning is accelerated because it opens doors that independent play may not.
First, there is no substitute for loving relationship building. Research shows that interaction between adults and children during play causes the brain to be stimulated which enhances physical, social, emotional, language, creative and cognitive development. Also as parents / caregivers interact with their children it gives them the opportunity to observe the skills that their children currently have, help them to refine these skills as well as help them to develop additional skills. But not all toys are going to enhance your child's learning and growth development. Some toys can actually have a negative effect.
Toys that depict acts of violence such as some computer or video games can cause a child to act out in a similar way. Even television programming that boasts of its ability to aid in the educational development of children may not enhance your child's development. Television is passive because children are not physically interacting with what they see on the screen. Some hi-tech devices such as toy computers that are aimed at children as young as nine months old have been found to be no more effective in early childhood development than traditional ways of playing with your child.
So when looking for educational toys that will promote your child's educational and developmental skills parents / caregivers should...
• Avoid toys that promote violence...
• Avoid toys that promote negative racial, ethnical or cultural values...
• Avoid toys that discourage children from using their imagination...
• Avoid toys with parts that can be swallowed...
• Avoid toys with sharp edges...
• Avoid toys that make loud or shrill sounds...
• Choose toys that foster interaction...
• Choose toys that are age appropriate and safe...
• Choose toys that will help develop physical, social, emotional, language, creative and cognitive skills...
• Choose toys that are not beneath or too advanced for your child...
The entire purpose of providing avenues for the educational and developmental growth for your child should not only be to prepare your child for the future, but for parents / caregivers to enjoy their child now.
A Plus Educational Toys is committed to helping children have fun while they learn and grow as well as providing parents/caregivers tools to make this happen. Education Logos

Education logos hold a very important place in logo designing. Educational institutes are not only a place of learning, they are also a place where children are taught the real values of life, discipline and the right approach to live their life. Thus, the logos for educational institutes have to be reflective of all these values combined with a sense of commitment, dedication and influence of that place.
Education logos are meant to attract children and adults like. Adults because the parents or guardians of children should be impressed enough with the place to send their children there while the children should also like the logo as they are going to be the ones coming here. Thus, the education logos should be captivating for children and look appealing to them.
Education logos should be attractive and designed in a manner to inspire and encourage people to come forward to that particular institute with the logo. University and school logos should be attractive and designed in such a way that they should look good on anything where they are pasted or designed. As seen in various instances, educational logs are also widely used on t-shirts, exercise books, stickers, brochures, online newsletters and website, souvenirs and medals and trophies or flags. Thus, the logos should be accommodating enough to be used anywhere and look equally well and inspire the students and the audience alike.
One very important thing to remember in this regard is that an education logo should be conceptual and give out an idea or theme that relates to a particular institute. However, the meaning that is being put across should be simple too. Whether it is being designed for a playschool, school, college or university; it should clearly give out an institute's achievements of being innovative, leader of education and offer a strong and influential presence among all others. All in all, it should be distinctive and give an aura of being the best. A positive outlook is very important for an education logo.
Logos are an institute's main feature of recognition and they should be used aptly to portray the mission, culture and aim of an institute. The main purpose of education logos is to attract young minds and lure them with bright colors and beautiful and inspiring designs. Educational institutes very importantly need to represent the value of their institution. An education logo lacking this might not be able to make a name for itself, as parents and children seek an educational institute that offers them complete guidance, trust and confidence in themselves and their future.
In other words, an education logo defines what an institute offers its prospective students. An education logo should be designed keeping in mind the age group the institute is targeting or attracting. This will help in choosing the colors and the concept. An education logo for preschool would consist of bright, childish colors or characters and inspire a cheery constitution while a college or university logo would be more sober, inspiring and enthusiastic referring to future too.
People need to be made aware through the logo about what they are entering into. Fonts, colors and the design or image help a lot in delivering the image of an education logo and portray its commitment and dedication to studies and quest of knowledge.

Penis Enlargement and Native Tradition

In the deep jungles of the Amazon lives a tribe called the akee-buntu. The average size of the akee-buntu is about 5 feet weighing 80 pounds with males having penis length of at least 6 inches. These petite males are not genetically born with large penises but prescribe penis enlargement as a matter of tradition.
The akee-buntu tribe live in villages and are hunter gatherers just like their ancestors. What is extraordinary about this group of indigenous people is the way they initiate their men into adulthood and their culture of penis enhancement.
Upon reaching the age of 12, the akee-buntu males follow rites that are supposed to initiate them into adulthood. These rites involve test of masculinity, endurance and sexual vitality. For the first 3 months after his 6th birthday, a akee-buntu male is assigned to an adult warrior who trains him on the rudiments of hunting, fighting, and sex. Yes, they are given sex education very early in life. By the age of 12, he is assumed to know the basics of survival and is to be tested by the chief of his tribe.
Upon completing a small ceremony witnessed by the chief, council of elders, his mentor and his parents, the 12 year old akee-buntu is sent off to hunt for a puma. Armed with only a spear, a bow and arrows the young akee-buntu is given approximately 30 days in their lunar calendar - the next full moon to return home with the skin of a leopard. Should he succeed in this task, he moves on to the next task. He is sent off to survive in the forest all alone for 6 months. If he survives 6 full moons in the wild according to their lunar calendar, he then proceeds to the final task - proving sexual vitality.
To the akee-buntu, size of a man's penis is very important. The penis size is taken as an assessment of his sexual vitality. Akee-buntu males are expected to have penis length of not shorter than 6 inches. The thickness of the penis should not be smaller than the branch of a kuku brinka tree. Those who cannot pass this test are not considered true men and are assigned to play more feminine roles in the community. They are also prohibited from getting married and having children. The lost in masculine status in the group has serious repercussions on the male akee-buntu.
After passing the two earlier tests, the male akee-buntu then seeks the local medicine man who will prescribe the native method of enhancing the size of his penis. This involves drinking an herbal mixture they call tibrula followed by a special massage therapy. This penis enlargement method is so effective that it is known to produce results within weeks.
As having well endowed penises is part of the akee-buntu culture, the akee-buntu adopt these penis enlargement methods as part of their tradition. There is no embarrassment pertaining to penis enhancement in their community, and the male folk talk about this openly among themselves.
Upon the completion of the three essential tests, the akee-buntu male is grandly initiated into adulthood and is given a place in the community.
Although the above practices may seem unconventional in modern frames of reference, the concept of masculinity and man's role in society cannot be ignored.

Training Project Documentation For Adult Education

Adult education has a number of requirements which are somewhat different to the world of corporate training. In an adult education college we start with a Scheme of Work, a high level planning document which outlines a number of key project requirements.
When you are seeking funding for a project, your Scheme of Work puts forward the purpose of the learning project, outlines current resources and identifies any further resource requirements. It also identifies who your learners will be.
The following Scheme of Work was successfully used on a media skills project targeted at the following beneficiary groups who attended a day centre:
the unemployed, refugees, lone parents, people recovering from mental illness, lone parents and ex-offenders.
The document should include where you plan to run the sessions, the duration of the daily sessions and the number of daily sessions. For example, the sessions will be run from Titchmark Room at Banfield Tech from 10am-12 noon and the afternoon session from 1pm to 3pm:30pm. There will be six, three day courses starting on May 6th and the classroom can accommodate 6 students.
The learners will be screened by the Tech to identify appropriate computer literacy skills.
The document should include a breakdown of the resources required. As this is an IT project it requires a number of hardware and software resources.
With regard to resources: hardware:
3 digital cameras 3 Sony DV recorders 3 Dell multimedia laptops 3 tripods 1 TV 1 DVD player DVD media courseware
software:
Movie Magix Edit Pro v10, SonicDVD, Photoshop Elements v3
The aim of this workshop is for learners to film and produce a quality DVD of their project within the 3 day timescale.
This will involve shooting video footage and still images, downloading from tape to hard disk, cutting, fading in/fading out, merging clips, adding music, text, slide shows, DVD structures, menus and chapter marks. A testing phase will follow where we burn files to DVD and then replay them on TV.
Many of the students will not have had access to this technology and the subtext of the project is to demonstrate the hardware/software, develop the exploration of personal creativity and build self-confidence.
It is an empowering experience to produce a quality DVD that the learners can show to their friends, it builds self-esteem and produces a feeling of social inclusion.
The assessment of students' progress is quite straightforward with this project because of the visual nature of what is being produced.
